- TARGET WEIGHT - minimum & maximum
- LEAN WEIGHT
- LEAN PERCENTAGE
- WATER IN LITRES
- WATER PERCENTAGE
- TARGET WATER - minimum & maximum
BODY FAT PERCENTAGE:
This is the total percentage of fat you have in and on your body. Intramuscular fat (Fat stored within the muscle), visceral fat (Fat stored around your organs) and subcutaneous fat (External fat - fat whch you can see). Body fat monitors can be purchased very cheaply but only give average and guided results - The Maltron BF 906 is medically graded to give accurate results everytime.
BODY FAT WEIGHT
This will show the total amount of fat you are carrying in kilogrammes.
TARGET FAT PERCENTAGE - Minimum & maximum
This is the fat percentage that you should be aiming for in order to be concidered in the healthy range and at a low risk of weight related issues and disease, such as cardio vascular disease, diabetes etc... click here to read more about weight related illnesses. Ranges of desired fat levels differ for man and women and for athletes v's a person who wants to be healthy. The maltron BF 906 analyser will tell you th ebest range for your personal goals for example: a male (Non-athlete) might aim for approximately 17 - 25% fat whilst a female (Non-athlete) may aim for 25 - 30%. It is essential for health in men to be 2 - 4 % at bare minimum and women to be 10 - 12%. We will explain your result fully and what you as an individual should be aiming for each time. You may get a plesent surprise and find out you are actually in the correct range when you thought you may be higher!
BODY MASS INDEX (BMI)
You may have heard of the BMI - It is your "weight divided by your height squared". Personally, i consider this a poor meassurement of overall upto date health as it is too generic and does not consider bone mass or muscle mass. BMI catagories:
Underweight = <18.5 | Normal weight = 18.5 - 24.9 | Overweight = 25 - 29.9 | Obesity = 30 or greater.
BASAL METABOLIC RATE (BMR) (Kcal)
Your BMR is the amount of calories your body burns on a daily basis to stay alive. This is your metabolic rate - the rate at which your engine revs and burns fuel all day in order for you to survive. If you thinnk you have a slugish metabolism we will confirm this with the test. It is a really important number to know to take control of your body and feed it the right amount so that you can lose weight, gain weight or build muscle. For example: if your BMR is 1300 calories then you must intake 1300 calories a day to stay at your current weight. But, if you wnt to lose weight you would need to intake approximately 300 calories less so that your body burns stored body fat to make up the difference. Information like this can put you on the fast track to weight loss, fat los, toning and sculpting.
TARGET WEIGHT
The test will tell us what weight range you should be aiming for.
LEAN WEIGHT
This is the weight of your lean mass, which means your total body weight minus your total fat weight.
LEAN PERCENTAGE
This is 100% minus your fat percentage equals lean percentage.
WATER IN LITRES
This is an important meassurement. It tells us how many litres of water you have in your body. If you think that you may be fluid retentive for any reason this meassure will inform us. This meassurement will also inform us of dehydration levels.
WATER PERCENTAGE
This is the percentage of your body which is made up of water - includes blood, plasma etc...
TARGET WATER (Minimum and maximum)
This is the percentage of water you should have in yyour body. If you are holding water or dehydrated, this neassure will tell you how much more you require or how much you need to flush out, because drinking too much is just as negative on the body as drinking too little.
WHY MEASSURE YOUR BODY COMPOSITION?
For your personal trainer to know your body fat percentage and how much it weighs, or your Basal metabolic rate and how much water you may or may not be getting is vital information. Without this we cannot begin to design exercise regimes, nutrition plans and lifestyle management programmes.
For you to meassure body composition it is generally good practise and an intelligent way to keep a healhty check on your insides. To undertand your body better and to know where, why, what, when or how to alter your lifestyle as you get older. People of different weights have different amounts of fat and fat free mass, therefore for those interested in body composition, to know the right proportion of fat to lean ratio is very important. A very high or indeed very low percentage of fat may be assoiciated with increased risks of health realted diseases e.g. cardiovascular disease, diabetes, coronory heart disease... The information gathered from this analysis is extremely beneficial to every person; young and old, unfit and athlete, people wanting to lose weight, gain weight, lose fat, build muscle or for general lifestyle maintenence.
HOW DOES THE MALTRON BF-906 WORK?
Bio-electrical inpedance at 50kHz works by meassuring the impedance (Resistance plus reactance - at this frequency the current passes across cell membranes) of the body to a safe alternating current. The analyser uses the scientific tetrapolar method of four electrodes which are applied to the right side of the body, on the hand and ankle. On entering all the parameters and resting in a supine position (Laying down on your back) with hands and legs slightly apart, the monitor is activated. the processing powers analyses the data and displays the information within seconds. Boi-electrical impedence is a scientific word used to describe our body's ability to resist (Slow down) e;ectriciy as it flows through us. the monitor measures the flow of electrical signals as they pass through fat, lean tissue and water. They each resist the flow of electrical signals at different rates giving us a a highly reliable meassure of the amounts of each of these components.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE AND HOW TO PREPARE?
The procedure is very simple. We visit you and have a brief discussion regarding your current health, past and current exercise goals and any future targets. For the test we will need: Your age, your weight (We can weigh you) and your height (We can meaaseure you). We then input this information into the analyser. You will need to take off your right shoe and sock (No other clothing is required to be removed) and lie onto your back with your arms flat beside your side and legs straight out. We will then attach the electrolodes (One on top of your hand and one on the top of your wrist, one on the top of the ankle and one on the top of your foot, above your toes). It is completely painless and will take approximately 40 seconds to fully meassure your body's data.

Please ensure you have not eaten for approximately 3 hours prior to the test also. Consultations are between 40 and 50 minutes depending what information is needed and understanding.
COSTS
